HBS Roboteers enjoy Largest Vex Robotics Regional ever held in the UK

Robotics

On Sunday 26th November the HBS Roboteers travelled to the Hertfordshire Sports Village (University of Hertfordshire) to take part in the UK's largest Vex Robotics Regional. We were very excited about this event as it was the first time all of our roboteers could complete at the same time; 65 girls across 12 teams from years 8 to 13 all competing in one competition. We had 4 teams represented in the VRC (metal) league and 8 teams represented in the IQ (plastic) league.

There was a fantastic atmosphere at the event and we enjoyed working with and against other schools from across North London and Hertfordshire. The teams enjoyed extraordinary success: in the VRC tournament 'HBS The Purge' had an un-beaten run of 10 wins 0 losses and won all of their knock out matches to eventually win 'Tournament Champions'. On the IQ side of the tournament 'HBS Vexecutioners' and 'HBS Incredibots' won 'Tournament Champions', 'HBS Infinity' won the Robot Skills award with a new UK high score and also took away the 'Excellence' award which qualifies them for the World Championships in the USA. Aside from the success on field, there was tremendous success in the judges categories too, but just as important was the experience they gained working under pressure and with others and sharing ideas and developing new solutions.

Congratulations to all of our students and the award-winning teams:
