Spanish BFI Cinema Trip

On Tuesday, 30 year 9 girls travelled to the BFI IMAX cinema (which has the biggest screen in the country) for a Spanish study day. This was a wonderful opportunity to learn spanish in an interactive way and to broaden our vocabulary. We watched three short films: La Leyenda del Espantapajaros, Emperrado and La Huida which showed us scenes from Spanish life and culture and also from the life of a scarecrow! As we had already watched ‘La Leyenda del Espantapajaros’ in class, it was fun to explore it in even more detail. The short films were all different but very interesting and it was enjoyable to see a range of Spanish films. Not only did we widen our knowledge of the language but were also given the chance to discuss and explore the films in depth and to do a bit of acting ourselves on the stage. Since the weather was muy glorioso, we enjoyed having our lunch in the beautiful garden outside the cinema. We ended the day by watching ‘Zipi y Zape’ (a rather surreal school story). Thank you so much to Mr Ross for organising this event and to Miss Boxall and Miss Sack for accompanying us on this very enjoyable and worthwhile trip.
