Key Stage 3 Extra-Curricular Drama - Shakespeare Society
Thirty Year 8 and 9 students have been attending the weekly Shakespeare Society this term and have displayed excellent levels of commitment and collaboration. Some of the Year 10 GCSE Drama students have enjoyed taking on leadership roles and working on their directorial skills. Thank you to the following Year 10 students for their excellent work on the project this term: Juliette Kendal, Lucy Arnold-Forster, Lara Alli, Minna Gillett, Savinay Sood and Ava Balaji.
Juliette Kendal writes:
This term, myself and five other Year 10 Drama GCSE students (Ava, Lara, Lucy, Minna and Savinay) have been helping direct the Year 8 and 9 Shakespeare Society’s performance of ‘Twelfth Night’. Every Thursday lunchtime, each of us have been working with a small group of girls on a specific extract from the play. We’ve loved getting to know the younger years better and we've been particularly pleased to see their fantastic ideas and contributions in putting the play together. The six of us feel that this experience has not only helped our leadership skills, but has also given us a new perspective on drama from a directing point of view, which will greatly help us with our GCSE performances. Directing Shakespeare Society has definitely been a challenge as we’ve never done anything like this before, but, we are so grateful for the commitment and energy that the Year 8s and 9s have brought to each session and their enthusiasm has made the process easier and more enjoyable for all of us. We would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Clarke for giving us this fantastic opportunity, and we can’t wait for everyone to see our lovely performers in the Shakespeare Society’s lunchtime performance of ‘Twelfth Night’ in May!
