If you are a parent please take the time to register to receive correspondence via email, please click here. I hope you enjoy visiting our website and finding out more about our School and its activities. The Henrietta Barnett School is a warm, friendly and vibrant community that prides itself on good relationships. We are one of the top state schools in the country and have an exemplary local and national reputation for academic excellence. We are a non-denominational voluntary aided grammar school for girls aged 11-18, founded in 1911 and situated in the peaceful surroundings of the Hampstead Garden Suburb, in a charming Lutyens-designed Grade 11* Listed Building. Dame Henrietta Barnett strongly believed in the power of education to shape people’s lives and founded the School to provide educational opportunities of the highest quality for its pupils. She built the School on the principle that education should be open to girls from different backgrounds to study and learn together and from each other. This principle is alive and well at The Henrietta Barnett School. We regard our diversity as one of our major strengths and one of our many legacies from the founder. We provide a broad education for all pupils that is ambitious, varied and stimulating. We are committed to developing the whole person, to encouraging girls to explore their interests in a wide variety of ways and to promoting curiosity of mind, independence of spirit and a love of learning. In the accompanying web pages, you will be able to discover more about the broad educational experience at the School, but none of this should replace an experience of the School itself. We have ambitious plans for the coming year. In July 2007 we were awarded Music College Status with English as a second subject under the Specialist Schools Status scheme. More information about what this will mean to the School appears under the Music College Status tag. In the last year we have also been fortunate in receiving sufficient donations from our parents to provide additional and improved facilities from September 2007, including: - A Fitness Suite, including a Multi-Gym to enhance the sporting facilities and a Dance/Exercise Studio to allow for greater choice of activities
- An on-site Cafe to offer more choice of food and a place to relax
- A PSHE Studio to facilitate better discussion and debate about issues
- An Artist in Residence and studio to work on-site with the girls for a year
- A School Play for Key Stage 3, in addition to the Senior School play
We would be delighted to see you on one of our Open Days, to show you around the school and to answer any questions you may have. Please see our Admissions section for more information. We look forward to seeing you soon.
