Our recent Autumn Concert in the Main Hall featured performances from a range of our instrumental and choral ensembles, including Concert Orchestra, Wind Band, Chamber Choir, Guitar Ensemble and two Flute Ensembles. Student-led groups included the House Singing Part-Song Winners, Brass Ensemble and Recorder Ensemble. Well done to all performers.
The Sixth Form Music Prefects have helped to co-ordinate two Lunchtime Concerts towards the end of term, featuring performances from students in Year 7 to 13. These concerts provide an opportunity for musicians to perform informally and gain valuable experience. Repertoire has been wide-ranging, from Chopin to Wicked!
Last Tuesday saw Bands Night in the Drama Studio – a brilliant evening of performances from various student bands, the event co-ordinated by our Guitar Teacher Mr Goldberg. The wide variety of acts included solos, duets and a number of bands from across the school.
Our Carol Concert on Wednesday 17th December opens with music by Rossini (Symphony Orchestra) and Ireland (Chamber Orchestra), followed by choral items drawing the term towards a close: a range of well-known carols and seasonal songs, accompanied by organ, piano and orchestra. The concert ends with Leroy Anderson’s ever-popular Sleigh Ride, performed by Symphony Orchestra. Good luck to all performers. Visitors are welcome to join us in St Jude’s Church for a 5pm start; admission is free.
