Embrace is a student-led annually held showcase, which celebrates black artists and culture in order to spread awareness of the prejudices still prevalent in our society today. On Monday 19th January 2026, we entertained an audience with a memorable and thought-provoking performance including singing, dancing and spoken word showcasing the high calibre of our HBS students’ talents.
The event raised a whopping, record breaking, £1455 this year for the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation! The charity does incredible work, focusing on creating a more equitable and inclusive society by creating opportunities for marginalised young people in the UK. We are so thankful to everyone who attended the showcase for supporting us and contributed to
raising this incredible sum.
The tradition of Embrace not only provides opportunities to appreciate black musicians, but it also allows students to build confidence performing and connecting with students across the school, an invaluable experience. Students gave up their lunchtimes and time after school to produce this event. Through a lot of hard work making singing arrangements, choreographing, planning rehearsals, organising backstage and tech elements, we are extremely proud of everything the cast and tech team have accomplished.
A massive well done is deserved for the cast, tech team and members of staff for the huge success of Embrace this year!
