Students across KS4 and KS5 attended the extremely rewarding Careers Fair on the 29th January, where professionals from various fields offered career advice and responded to questions from the students. From engineers and barristers, to architects and medical professionals, the variety of people allowed the pupils to find out more about the paths they were interested in following.
The Careers Fair aimed to show students different possibilities for their futures. For KS4, particularly Year 11 students, it gave them more information for choosing their A-levels, as well as allowing them to think more on their post-secondary school paths.
A Year 11 student interested in a career in law said that the Careers Fair ‘gave an insight into various aspects of the profession, showing the different ways one could be involved in a law career’. Another student said that she enjoyed the variety of the jobs the professionals held, and that they were engaging and helpful when answering her questions. KS5 also benefitted from the Careers Fair, as it allowed them to further explore potential university degrees and careers.
We are grateful to Mr Harbord for organising this year’s Careers Fair and to all the professionals who took time out of their busy schedule to attend.

I wanted to extend my gratitude to all the parents and alumnae who took the time to speak to our students about their profession. This was an absolutely invaluable experience, and the candid and passionate stories brought the working world to life. It was a genuine showcase of the range of opportunities awaiting our HBS students. When the time comes, I am sure they will be eager to tell their own tale to the cohorts of the future!
We have also recently had the Education Development Trust come in to speak about Apprenticeships to KS3 and 4 – an area everyone should give some consideration. Parent webinars are being run to give you a better picture. Do sign up if you are interested in learning more:
