On Tuesday 17th March, two pairs of Year 9 students took part in the regional heats of the ESU Performing Shakespeare competition at William Perkin School in Greenford.

These students had been selected from a very competitive field during our school heats in the Autumn Term and were asked to perform their piece in front of a panel of judges, alongside entries from other schools in the North-West London area.

The acts that performed were:

• Anisha and Riana – Macbeth, Act II, scene ii 
• Ziana and Aksayaa – A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Act III, scene ii 

Both acts did fantastically well and were very warmly received by the audience and experienced judges alike. We are very pleased to announce that Anisha and Riana were put through to the next round of the competition, which will be the Regional Finals taking place in the Summer Term.

Below is a review of the event by two of our performers, Riana and Anisha from Year 9:

​On Tuesday 17th March, we were lucky enough to have the amazing experience of going to the next round of the ESU Performing Shakespeare Competition. We were astounded by the amazing performances from students in other schools as well as the wide variety of snacks on offer! The performances spanned so many different plays and were performed with so much emotion encompassed in them, with performances from Hamlet, The Tempest and even Titus Andronicus. We were very impressed by how well everybody transformed into their characters, and we were fortunate to see a range of humour, bitter vulnerability and literal insanity! We chose a piece from Macbeth, and loved performing, feeling the adrenaline and now are really looking forward to the upcoming regional finals.

​It was a lovely, friendly atmosphere and we had so much fun!
