HBS are very proud to have three candidates for Barnet Youth Parliament this year. Nysa (Y8) and Kuyil (Y9) are running for the UK Youth Parliament and Safiya (Y11) is running for Barnet Youth Ambassador. You can find out more about their campaigns here.
The UK Youth Parliament enables young people to use their energy and passion to change the world for the better. It is a national forum currently run by the National Youth Agency with young people for young people, which provides opportunities to work with other Members of Youth Parliament from around the UK.
Barnet Youth Ambassadors are elected by young people on the basis of their chosen campaign which will be a local rather than a national issue. They serve a 2 year term and support Barnet’s Youth Board as well as continuing their own campaigns to improve Barnet as a place for children and young people. They may also feedback the views of Barnet young people to council committees and to elected members and act generally as a means to inspire other young people to take part in the council’s youth participation offer.
