We were delighted to welcome Katharine Radice back to Henrietta Barnett recently for her incisive talk, “Facilitating Success: Helping your child make effective decisions and build a healthy and resilient attitude to school work”.
Addressing the unique pressures of a high-achieving environment, Katharine explored how parents can help students who often face the challenges of perfectionism and procrastination, in particular in relation to revising for tests and exams. She gave practical advice on how to support a child’s own iterative decision-making process, encourage them to set healthy boundaries and develop resilience to deal with disappointment. Katharine’s talk was a continuation of the valuable collaboration begun last year with her advice to parents, staff and students on Exam Stress and is closely aligned to the support we seek to provide our students in school.
Katharine has kindly agreed to share her slides and the recording of the talk, and we would encourage anyone interested in a more in-depth understanding of her research and insights to purchase her book which is published this month.
