MMI Practise Interviews

On Friday 7th November, Year 13 students applying for Medicine took part in a Mock MMI (Multiple Mini Interview) Day organised by the school. We began the morning with an introduction and debrief about what to expect in the MMI process. All the students were divided into groups and rotated through a series of timed stations throughout the day, each lasting 32 minutes. Within these, there were four 4-minute mini interview scenarios, with a timekeeper providing prompts to simulate real interview conditions.

The stations covered key areas commonly assessed in medical interviews, including Communication Skills, Medical Ethics, Motivation for Medicine, and Roleplay. This structure allowed us to experience the fast-paced and varied nature of MMIs while also giving us the chance to practise thinking clearly, speaking confidently, and responding thoughtfully under pressure.

At the end of the session, everyone received verbal feedback as well as individual written comments specific to their performance. I found this extremely valuable in helping to identify both strengths and areas for improvement and it provided clear guidance on how to further develop interview skills ahead of real medical school interviews.

A thank you to all teachers who organised the event and to the parents and volunteers who gave their time to act as interviewers. The day was incredibly beneficial and greatly appreciated by everyone who took part.
