Performing Shakespeare Regional Finals

Written by Anisha D and Riana P, Yr 9

On Wednesday the 12th of May, we were very fortunate to perform a scene from Macbeth in the ESU KS3 Performing Shakespeare Regional Final!

At Latymer Upper School, we were thoroughly awed by the other acts and loved watching the pieces, spanning all types of Shakespearean plays and characters, from the less famous Titus Andronicus and Joan of Arc in Henry VI, to Macbeth, and Brutus’ monologue in Julius Caesar. We absolutely loved performing and feeling the adrenaline rush, and meeting the other performers, who were all extremely friendly, kind and talented!

We are overjoyed to have reached this stage in the competition and are really grateful for the incredible support of the English Department. Overall it was an amazing experience filled with competition, talent and chatter, and we greatly enjoyed it!

After all, as Hamlet said,  “The play’s the thing!” (but in his case there were unfortunately much more sombre circumstances).
